Associate Manager - SRM / Inbound Logistics

JOB PURPOSE

The job holder will manage Al Taweelah Alumina (greenfield alumina refinery in Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi, adjacent to EMAL's Al Taweelah operation and Khalifa Port) strategic raw materials, scheduling, planning and operational execution, implementing overall supply and freight strategy in coordination with shipping companies in order to ensure that all required materials are delivered at minimal cost, in a timely manner, with highest quality to ensure realization of production objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, logistics, international transport / or any business related specialization.
Minimum Experience:
Minimum 7 years relevant experience in logistics or dry bulk shipping in a similar industry. Previous industrial dry bulk logistics, specifically scheduling and planning including inventory management and berth occupancy optimization.
Preference will be given to candidates with previous aluminum smelting/bauxite refining industry experience.
Skills:
Essential: Computer literate and very good understanding and usage of SAP, office, power point presentation skills, e-mail and good communication skills both written and verbal.
Analytical thinking capabilities aligned to problem solving and optimizing multiple outcomes within tight timeframes. Strong negotiating skills.
Excellent stakeholder relationship building skills, wider BU's and the Shipping industry
Ability to grasp and understand customers' key drivers and respond in a timely manner.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Scheduling & Planning
·       Responsible for planning and scheduling the supply of ATA's raw materials using consumption and production forecast to estimate the quantities and shipment delivery dates.
·       Managing and maintaining ATA's SRM inventory levels within set target levels.

Freight Procurement / Chartering
·       Lowering freight spend through optimal shipment sizes and routes, leveraging freight differentials, cross commodity parcelling and freight contract negotiations.
·       Preparing freight tender documents, commercial and technical evaluation.
·       Negotiation of Charter Party and freight contract's terms and conditions.

Budget / KPI Reporting
·       Report key operational and profitability performance of freight contracts against agreed targets as required; handle incidents and work to resolve problems; assist in formulating, establishing and improving operational procedures/systems that allow for the smooth operation of voyages.
·       Preparing Monthly Cash Flow Forecast.
 
 
Shipping Operations
·       Manage execution of freight and supply contracts i.e. delivery of the materials as per the schedule and demand-supply analysis conducted.
·       Complete Post fixture management including vessel nomination, supplier's timely acceptance, substitution if required, laytime assessment….etc.
·       Manage interface between OGV & Transshipment vessels to ensure smooth transshipment operation.
·       Working within load and discharge port constraints; aligning port's terms and conditions with shipping contracts.
·       Cutting demurrage cost through better communication, planning decisions and TW berth occupancy.
 
Policies, Processes & Procedures
·       Ensure systems are kept up to date and maintained; identify opportunities for process improvements, make recommendations, implement changes;
·       Develops and oversees the implementation of department policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of Inbound Logistics department activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers.
 
Internal and External Liaison
Ensures close coordination with internal/external stakeholders, providing updates and presentations on shipping schedule, achieved savings and freight procurement strategy.
Develop/maintain shipping companies profiles; and establish good relationship with reputable and reliable carriers, continuously developing freight procurement strategy.
 
Market Analysis
Create and maintain reports to monitor freight market, time and voyage charter rates & carriers major trade lanes/cargo position in order to enable informed decision making.
Analyse shipping companies performance (vessel operations), causes of deviations from original schedule and suggest/implement future mitigation measures.
Analyse shipments landed cost and annual demurrage / despatch amounts, identifying areas for improvement and lowering freight costs.
 
SAP System
Use SAP system for contract, purchase requisition & purchase order creation, material & freight invoices.  Update master data in SAP and pre-requisites of the TSW system for scheduling and planning annually.
